We have created a website about celebrity idols. Our target audience is teens mainly girls. We have used two examples of what a good idol is, but we have also included two celebrities who do not have a successful reputation. We think we have successfully aimed our website at our target audience, with our choice of theme, idea, colour, language and the language we have used.
Our theme/design is a flowery one. It is mainly pink as we believe it will appeal to our target audience. The theme is important as many people, especially teens judge articles on looks. If it looks any good then they will read it. Having a flowery background will draw their attention of teen girls our target audience. This is what we want, for them to look at it and want to read it. Another reason we chose it was because it fits into our idea that we wrote about. We wrote about female celebrity and pretty flowery backgrounds associates with them.
We chose the idea of teen idols/people you look up to. We wanted to make teens realise that not all of the ‘so called’ idols are the best role models. To show this we used four well known celebrities that teens can relate to, as they have gone through some of the same things.
When we wrote our articles we paid close attention to the type of language we used. We wanted it to be easy to understand and not too formal or hard to comprehend. For example we used a catchy start like a rhetorical question to get the reader hooked and make them want to carry on with the article. We wanted our readers to actually think about what we have written and decide if their idols are actually the best ones to have. Within our articles we have incorporated little phrases that you would find in magazines. Again this was to keep the reader engaged.
For our images we used pictures of all the celebrities we were writing about. We also made sure it was clear on who the good ones were and who you don’t really want to have as your idol. In order to achieve this, our two good idols have nice pictures whereas the other two you can see that they are not the best to look up to.
Overall we took our target audience very seriously and whenever we made a decision we thought about them and whether they would like it.
